This past season, the Prince George Cantata Singers (PGCS) proudly won the 2024 BC Festival of Arts in the Community Choir, 19 and Over category. This remarkable achievement has thrilled our Board of Directors (BoD) and all our membership!
For the competition, PGCS performed Red is the Rose, a traditional Irish song arranged by Canadian composer, Mark Sirett, and Northern Lights, a mesmerizing piece by Ola Gjeilo. The adjudicator praised our choral harmonic structure and our expressive use of dynamics, which added rich color to our overall sound.
This win not only highlights the incredible talent of the PGCS membership but also showcases the exceptional leadership and talent of our choral director, Ariane Jarosch, and our accompanist, Maureen Neilsen. Their guidance and artistry have been instrumental in our success, and we are truly fortunate to have them.
